The Municipal Solid Waste Management Board (MSWMB) of Lubuagan visits the Lubuagan Material Recovery Facility (MRF) located at Awichon, Barangay Dangoy, Lubuagan on May 31.
The MSWMB conducted site inspection at the Lubuagan MRF after reports were made regarding the dumping of waste on the area. Garbages welcomed the team upon arriving near the entrance of the MRF. Mostly tin cans in sacks, scattered wine bottles were seen on the area, among others. There were also garbages that have printed names of people.
Dumping of waste matters in public places is strictly prohibited as stated in R.A. 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000. Anyone caught violating this provision may face penal charges as constituted in the law. Ms. Ailleen Melody E. Alya-on, the MSWMB vice chairperson, who spearheaded the team during the site inspection said to report the inspection results during the upcoming 6th Kapehan Sa Munisipyo of the municipal government on Monday, June 4.
The team also conducted site assessment on the Lubuagan MRF for its perimeter fencing to be implemented within the year. The proposed fencing would be a vertical garden. The team estimated 1 hectare out of the 15-hectare MLGU lot to be used purposely for the operations of the MRF. | MIO/ARBO
